Eye contact is a language that speaks with no words. Framed by deep, moody colors and wavering lines, a small girl’s stare commands our attention.

Eyes can tell us a lot about a person: their mood, their interest in what’s before them, how shy or forward they are. The little girl’s stare in this artwork feels 10 times more powerful than her small size can match. Someone stands beside her—perhaps her mother—but the girl’s stare takes over the scene. This artwork leaves the viewer wondering what has the girl’s attention.
