Drypoint engraving, chine colle
11" x 18"
The red canoe draws our eye in just as it had done for the photographer who captured this scene on the east coast of Michigan in 1954. The girl stands before the canoe, waiting for her photographer’s OK that signals the photo has been captured. The sparse drypoint engraving around the image acts as the outer boundaries of a camera’s lens — we focus only on what the photographer intended.
